Family:
Ginny was both the youngest and the only girl of the Weasley brood born to Molly and Arthur. She grew up in a house full of six growing boys, her mother, and her father, along with random relatives at times and often family friends. As soon as she was old enough to be picked on, she was, but she was also protected by those who picked on her most. Her brothers could tease her all they wanted, but if any of their friends or the neighbor kids or even cousins said a mean word, they were promptly told off or threatened, or even hit for their trouble. Ginny was sure Fred and George were the most protective of her, and she always felt safe between the two of them.

The Weasleys were a close-knit family from day one, and each child learned this quickly. Once Ginny entered the family, things settled as Molly and Arthur were done reproducing. The family grew together, learned together, and ultimately made life great despite all their shortcomings. Their house was a happy one, if not overflowing with monetary or material wealth. They had wealth in love and kindness and in joy, and for that, every Weasley child was thankful.

Even with death, the family remained close together and got through. Theirs is a family strengthened by both joy and sadness, united in happiness and grief. They have learned to handle love and loss together, and they are better for it.

Personal:
As soon as she was old enough to talk, Ginny learned how to demand her brothers' attention. She also learned how to tattle, to blame the boys for anything she happened to do wrong, and she learned how to get her way. Ginny learned from her brothers many lessons to prepare her for life well before she'd experience their struggles, and she was both better and worse off for it. She learned how to defend herself before she had to, so she was unnecessarily defensive toward strangers. She learned to break rules before even knowing what the rules were. She also learned to look out for those weaker than herself and to never back down.

Ginny learned to fly the day Molly finally let the boys take her off the ground. From the moment she hit the sky she was in love. When she finally got to Hogwarts, she was star-struck by the famous boy Ron had befriended but also dumbfounded by the majesty of the castle itself. She'd never seen something so... magical. It wasn't the same kind of magic as the Burrow. It was pure and clean and regal. She was dumbfounded and felt utterly unworthy of the grace that was the school, the classes, the robes... the lion on her house crest. She was intimated, but quickly she grew out of that.

Ginny ended up playing quidditch, getting into plenty of fights, having plenty of boyfriends and breaking plenty of hearts. She dated Harry for a little while, though neither of them actually gave it the 'dating' title. Harry died. Ron died. Ginny feared she had failed them. She knew she hadn't. Not really. She'd fought alongside her brother, after all. But it hurt all the same. She cried. She mourned. She got over it.

There were many things that could be said about her, but Ginny Weasley could never be called weak or a quitter. She pulled herself together, got back up, and did what she needed to do. In fact, she did enough to get good marks and get into Merlin's Academy. Sometimes thoughts of Harry and Ron haunt her, but then she thinks of what they'd want. What would make them happy. They'd never accept her failing to live.

So, Ginny lives.
