Family:
The Burdon family are old money and have been high society for generations. They take pride in tradition, appearance, and always make sure they have a high position in social standing. They’ve always had prestige and influence and that is how they like it. The Burdons have always had a reputation for producing financiers and entrepreneurs when not in other positions such as lawyers, judges, and the like. The women of the family are no exception and are held to the same regard. When they are married and become mothers they are no less expected to uphold the Burdon name. The women are to make sure the children are in the proper schools, manage the house staff, hosting, and basically the director of the family. They ensure their place in society and know which parties need attending, etc.

There might have been a witch or wizard in the family but it would have been covered up during such times in the past. It wouldn’t have been profitable nor socially acceptable. Family was important and while they might be placed aside, they would have never been disowned. The views would have changed as the world did and less violence was directed at those that were magically inclined. Of the current generation only Chester has shown any capacity for magic or at least had been recognized to be talented enough to attend Ilvermorny. Neither of his two siblings (an older sister and a younger brother) displayed anything related to having magic or abnormal powers.

Sylvia went to college and married into money just like all the Burdon women. She’d met her husband through the socials that were arranged. Chester had been prodded towards women as well every time he came home for the summer that he eventually began to go abroad each summer to escape his mother’s machinations. Darren is their mother’s current project making sure that he will secure himself a woman of acceptable means.

Personal:
Chester was brought up with a literal silver spoon in his mouth. He enjoys being rich and the luxuries it brings. He’s always attended the best schools, applied himself entirely to his school work and extracurriculars. He’d never had trouble making friends, but he’d never had true friends until he’d gone to Ilvermorny. Chester wants to be liked and wants to be friends with those people that he admires and thinks are cool. That isn’t always possible however and it fuels that little bit of insecurity in himself.

It escaped not only his own, but the family and the helps, attention that he’d been different compared to his grandparents, parents, and older sister. He had magic. Learning this caused him to fret at first until he was assured that he wasn’t going to be disowned, but they weren’t sure anymore about his exact place in the family. Chester didn’t want to be estranged and live off an allowance like a leech.

Still unsure what he’d wanted to do once graduating from Ilvormorny, it was suggested he go to college. Finding out about MAMA had him packing his bags. He’s got a bit more direction but he’s still very undecided and taking as many subjects as he can until he either burns out or has an epiphany.
